This time, Sallie Potter, heartless owner of the Ebony Aces, went too far, and star catcher Bingo Long is going to do something about it. One by one, Bingo convinces his teammates to jump the Aces and form their own team, so they pile into their Auburn and Lincoln and set off as self-declared free agents, ready to take on all comers.

But Potter isn’t going to lose his livelihood without a fight, and through threats and coercion, extends his long tentacles to try to bring Long, brilliant pitcher Leon Carter, and the rest of his Aces back under his control. The pressure on the players is great, but as Bingo’s All Stars barnstorm across the Midwest, they find an even fiercer foe in the rampant racism that is 1930s America.

Bingo Long is based on author Williams Brashler’s extensive interviews with former Negro Leaguers conducted in the early 1970s, bringing authenticity to the dialog and the adventures of the players on and off the field.  They are free, yet hostility and even violence may be waiting for them at each small town or big city, as opponents and spectators marvel at their great skills as ballplayers and entertainers while also often hating them for the color of their skin.
